Beni Ourain with Purple Icons

Stunning huge vintage Beni Ourain with purple icon details.  The purple colour of the icons was created using pomegranates as a natural dye. The pile on the front is deep and shaggy with a suble muted diamond pattern.
 
This is a truly mysterious carpet and it is the back of the carpet that reveals the image details which range from floral motifs to a little car, symbols with relevance to the lady that made this special piece.  There is double seam detail on the rear only which has a supersticious meaning prevalent in tribal design.
 
This is one of the most impressive vintage pieces that we have found on our travels around Morocco.
