Wicker & Rattan on Trend

Its back from the seventies and it’s a huge trend this year. Whether you choose to hang a chair from your kitchen ceiling or lampshades over the dining table, there is no escaping the #Wicker & Rattan trend this season.

Rattan is a very special feature in the vintage world because of its ease and durability. It is often associated with mundane conservatory furniture or cliched island theme interiors but in the past few years it has been making its way into the world of vintage home décor. Rattan now seems to be everywhere with many reproductions of vintage pieces from the Bohemian lifestyle of the 60’s & 70’s but also high street brands and designer collectables.

Love this Boho style wicker chair

#Rattanseems to be taking in its stride thrifty shoppers, ecologically aware designers and a booming 70’s revival trend.

Check out original names such as #Lloyd Loom and #Thonet. My vintage favourites are the #Peacock chairs and #Lloyd Loom recliners with ottomans, which can be found in an array of colours, often green, blue & pink and add soul to any interior. Also on trend this year are more earthy tones and foliage patterned upholstery which pairs well with this type of furniture. Look out for Rattan mirrors, baskets, hanging chairs, coffee tables and accessories such as trays & bowls. Take a look at #Weaver & Found Pinterest board for Wicker Trend for more inspirational ideas.

Rattan mats work well to tie in this theme, at Weaver & Found we can source original #Toureg matsfrom the Sahara Dessert that are woven with beautiful leather details, often in quite geometric patterns. Contact us directly to source your perfect Toureg mat.

Part of this whole family of Rattan & Wicker is Bambooand one can find vintage tables and chairs with #bamboolegs. Designer, Denis Ball at Weaver & Foundadores this look and her hot tip is to try upcycling old pieces with a lick of paint. This furniture can look really cool in vibrant reds or Yves Klein blue.

When you see these pieces in high street collections think to check out the original first as it’s the subtlety of the vintage items that add real style & quality to your interior.
